Dr. Ragnell received his Dental Anesthesiology certificate from the University of Southern California School of Dental Medicine. He is a highly trained dental anesthesiologist in the use of itravenous, oral and inhalation sedation techniques. His credentials also include membership in the American Society of Dental Anesthesia.
Sedation dentistry is safe and effective. Many patients choose IV or oral sedation dentistry for their dental procedures because they:
With oral sedation dentistry, you’ll take a sedative about an hour before your procedures. You’ll enter a state of deep relaxation, and Dr. Ragnell will perform your dental work while you rest comfortably. He can potentially perform many procedures in a single visit.
Oral sedation dentistry allows you to be conscious throughout the entire procedure but unable to feel pain, anxiety, or fear. Although sedated, you’ll be able to respond to commands and breathe without assistance.
If you prefer a deeper form of sedation, we may suggest IV sedation. Under IV sedation, patients fall asleep while dental work is completed. IV stands for intravenous, which means that a sedation drug is administered through a vein. The drug gets into the bloodstream so that you sleep during your dental visit. Patients who suffer from severe anxiety, dental phobia, or physical discomfort often opt for IV sedation.
Following your sedation dentistry appointment, you’ll need a friend or family member to drive you home. Your sedation will wear off gradually, and you won’t remember the details of your dental visit.
We also offer nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, to alleviate anxiety and eliminate potential discomfort.
